CFI awards UBC in support of top researchers

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has announced that UBC is among the recipients of awards under their new Leaders Opportunity Fund, which provides support to Canadian institutions to attract and retain leading researchers.  A total of $1,769,533 will be given to support 16 projects at UBC.

“The investments being announced today will further enhance our country’s reputation as a destination of choice for outstanding researchers,” said Dr. Eliot Phillipson, President and CEO of the CFI. “They will make our universities even more competitive when it comes to attracting the best and brightest researchers from around the world.”

The CFI is an independent corporation created by the Government of Canada to fund research infrastructure and strengthen the capacity of Canadian universities, colleges, research hospitals, and non-profit research institutions.
