Media are invited to attend a UBC panel discussion of Canada’s federal election results on Tuesday, May 3 (10 a.m. PST), the morning after the election.

Experts from UBC’s Dept. of Political Science will field questions from media and students after they present short analyses on the election, the results and implications.

“We could be talking about a hung Parliament, an NDP official opposition, a Tory majority — almost anything is possible right now,” says organizer and moderator Prof. Max Cameron. “Whatever the result, our panel of experts will share their insights on what happened, why, and what it means for Canada.”

Panelists include:

  • Prof. Allan Tupper, UBC Dept. of Political Science head, an expert on Canadian politics, government and public policy
  • Prof. Richard Johnston, UBC Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions, an expert on election dynamics, public opinion and democracy
  • Prof. Fred Cutler, an expert on public opinion, elections, federalism and political psychology
  • Prof. Ken Carty, an expert on political parties and leaders
  • Prof. Max Cameron (moderator), an expert on comparative politics and international political economy
