Media are invited to attend the International Student Energy Summit (ISES), where world energy scholars, business leaders, government and 400 students from 35 countries will gather to explore practical solutions for a more sustainable planet.

From Thursday to Saturday, delegates will tackle the world’s most pressing “unsolvable energy problems,” as voted by global youth and experts on social media, to accelerate society’s transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future.

Media highlights include:

Expert panels on the future of the Alberta oil sands, the economic outlook of global energy markets, the impacts of Middle East unrest on energy markets, deepwater drilling and emerging clean energies and technologies. Various times, June 9-11
• Recent Harvard graduates will demonstrate sOccket, a soccer ball they invented that harnesses kinetic energy to produce clean electricity. Media availability starts June 10, 12:30 p.m.
• Students will simulate stakeholder negotiations of Enbridge’s controversial proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline to explore win/win economic, social and environmental solutions. June 10 1:45.
