Paper lanterns light up cherry blossoms in Nitobe Garden April

- Place: Nitobe Memorial Garden, Lower Mall, behind the
Asian Centre on West Mall.
- Parking: Parking is available in the Fraser Parkade.

Dozens of Japanese paper lanterns will welcome the spring season
and illuminate the cherry blossoms in the University of British
Columbia's Nitobe Memorial Garden the evening of April 4.
The Vancouver Mokuyokai Society, a Japanese-Canadian association,
is holding its annual Cherry Blossom Viewing and Lantern Festival
in the garden from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The lanterns will be suspended
from tree branches and lit at dusk.
The event is open to everyone. Admission is $2.50 for adults, $1.75
for high school and college students and seniors, and $1.50 for
students in grades 1 to 7. There is no charge for children under
6 years of age, UBC students with valid identification or the physically
or mentally challenged.
The Nitobe Memorial Garden is considered one of the finest Japanese
gardens outside Japan. Garden hours throughout the summer are 10
a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. For further information call the Nitobe Memorial
