Not a Y2K bug was stirring at UBC

Information technology staff at the University of British Columbia are confident that when the clock strikes midnight on Dec. 31, all campus services will be Y2K-proof.

If there are unexpected problems, however, staff will be available from Dec. 31 to Jan. 3 to trouble-shoot and answer questions.

UBC Security: 822-8609 -- 24-hr. recorded and updated information; 822-2222 -- to report security problems

Voice services: 822-2101 -- voicemail and campus phone services

Data services: 822-5438 -- e-mail, cablevision, computer network

Plant Operations: 822-2173 -- buildings and utilities

Emergencies: 911-- will be re-routed to radiophone if required

The UBC Public Affairs Office will be open Dec. 29, 30 and 31 during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

In case of an emergency after business hours on Dec. 31 or any time on Jan. 1, contact Paula Martin, director, Public Affairs at 604.822.2064.
