Stephen Jarislowky to Address UBC Annual General Meeting

Philanthropist and financier Dr. Stephen Jarislowsky will speak on Corporate Governance and Corporate Responsibility at the University of British Columbia's Annual General Meeting.

Dr. Jarislowsky, Chairman and CEO of Jarislowsky Fraser & Co. Ltd., earlier this year donated $1.25 million to help initiate the UBC Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions.

Dr. Jarislowky joins UBC Chancellor Allan McEachern and President Martha Piper for the university's annual community accountability session.

The AGM will also highlight UBC's accomplishments of the past year, including:

• Number two Maclean's ranking of Canadian universities
• $260 million in research funding, a 30 per cent increase over the previous fiscal year
• Opening of UBC at Robson Square, the new downtown Vancouver campus
• Zoology Prof. Lee Gass chosen Canadian Professor of the Year.
