Radio & TV Studios

UBC News TV

The University of British Columbia is equipped to offer live television interviews to local, national and international broadcast outlets.

The faculty and staff on UBC’s extensive list of experts have always been popular spokespeople with the media, and UBC’s professionally equipped studio (connected via fibre optic line to Vancouver’s Television Operating Centre) makes interviews with any news outlet possible with the flip of a switch.

The studio is staffed and equipped with professional video, audio and lighting. A number of interior backgrounds are available, and it is also possible to send a live shot from outside the studio with the Pacific Ocean and North Vancouver mountains in the background.

With two RemoteMix Sport audio mixers, taped double enders are also possible from any location on campus. It’s also possible for crews to feed their stories back to their newsrooms or do live top and tails.

No Charge for Shoots With a UBC Focus

The studio may be booked day or night (see Booking the Studio, above). The service is being offered to news broadcasters at no charge for shoots that have a UBC focus. For purposes that are not UBC-related, in-studio and external bang box fibre connections are available at any time at reasonable rental rates.

UBC News Radio

UBC News Radio utilizes Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) lines to provide professional quality audio for radio broadcasters.
